         The structure of Grandview Plaza on its own costs more than RMB 4 billions. It is apposing Teem Plaza and with the cityĄŻs axis right across between them.

 

Informant of Grandview confirms that WatsonĄŻs, Manning, Guangzhou Friendship Store and Yong-Le Electric Appliances have gained their entr¡§Śe. ParknShop of Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HML) took the preemptive opportunity to set up their largest flagship shop in Grandview and has given a trial run in last weekend.

 

As ChinaĄŻs opening up its market to the whole world, Grandview Plaza, of which the Shopping Mall building alone costs RMB 40 billion, is now under construction for 24 hours per day for the coming onslaught. The opening is said to be on December 18. By the time, Grandview Plaza, the new comer, and Teem Plaza, the veteran, each on its side divided by the axis of Guangzhou, will shine through the whole Southern China Commercial Circle.

 

The ParknShop Supermarket, who took the lead in giving a trial run last weekend in Grandview Plaza, is acclaimed to be the largest on within southern China. On B1, covering half of the ground area of Grandview, a.k.a. more than 10,000 square meters, its location and market positioning to the Grandview are almost the same as Jusco to Teem Plaza. ParknShop opened with its first-day-discount: for example, the original price RMB25.8/kg of the live fresh water crabs has been adjusted to RMB19.8/kg, theyĄŻd been sold out like hot cakes.

 

Meanwhile, WatsonĄŻs, another shop belongs to HML, and the chain giant of personal care products, the flagship of Mannings, has too gained its entr¡§Śe into Grandview. There are still other famous brands have reached tentative agreements with Grandview, such as Starbuck, KFC, McDonaldĄŻs, Häagen-Dazs, PizzaHut, Guangzhou Friendship Store, Yong-Le Electric Appliances, ect. Mr. Min-Jia Huang, the GM of Canton Yong-Le, indicates that Yong-Le would invest a big sum of a hundred million to brush up the brand, and thus it would be a vital step to set up a shop in Grandview Plaza.

 

It was said that a group consisting of 17 ministries and commissions from the State Department and other experts had just finished a tour of investigation to Grandview, which was remarked as Ą¡ăthe project with most possibilities to succeed among all the malls now under construction in ChinaĄą. Newsmen divulged that Grandview Plaza was strongly backed by the government, with a juncture of 56 bus lines around. Moreover, the underground corridor of the Plaza will be accomplished by Dec. 18, which links it up with Teem Plaza, Subway No.1 and No.3.

 

A new booming of the properties and real estates around Grandview Plaza is attention-worthy. The rent of shops on the Tianhe Road South raised up about 4 times than usual, the original RMB 1000/square meter now has been heightened to RMB 4000~6000/square meter. A house agent indicates that recently the price of second-hand apartments around Grandview Plaza amounts to RMB8000/square meter, while the peak used to be about RMB6000/square meter before.
